Arrest Annor-Dompreh over comments about beating any NDC supporter – NDC to Dampare

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for the immediate arrest of Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

This follows a viral video that captured him inciting New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Ablekuma North Constituency to defend themselves against alleged aggression from NDC members.

This development comes amid uncertainty in the Ablekuma North Constituency, where both the NPP and NDC parliamentary candidates have declared themselves winners of the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Speaking to Starr News, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, called on the National Investigation Bureau, the Ghana Police Service, and National Security to arrest Annoh-Dompreh for inciting violence against the NDC. He warned that if no action is taken, they shouldn’t be blamed for what happens next.

“We are calling on the law enforcement agencies to hold Annoh-Dompreh accountable. We urge the National Investigation Bureau, the Ghana Police Service, and National Security to step in and question him. What did he mean by saying that NPP supporters should attack NDC supporters? How can an Honourable Member of Parliament make such a reckless statement? We regret allowing someone like him, a fugitive, to hold a seat in Parliament,” he said.

“He is challenging the NDC with his actions. He must realize that issues like this will not be tolerated. We will protect our party’s supporters at all costs,” he added.

Meanwhile, security analyst Dr. Adam Bonaa also urged law enforcement officers to take swift action to prevent any further conflict and ensure the safety of all individuals in the area.

“It is unfortunate for a Minority Chief Whip to make such a statement. It’s surprising that the same individual is allegedly linked to one suspected crime or another. I believe the statement is both defamatory and inciteful,” Dr. Bonaa said.

“For peace to prevail, it would be wise for the Ghana Police Service to intervene, arrest him, and hold him to ensure calm while investigations proceed,” he concluded.
