The Volta and Oti regional branches of the Ghana National Association of teachers have increased their efforts to help teachers in ICT become more skilled and capable.

GNAT is collaborating with UNESCO and CENDLOS in an effort to improve inclusive and crisis-resilient education to maintain learning continuity and quality.

The purpose of the digital training exercise for the teachers is to help improve learning outcomes and the acquisition of 21st century skills through new pedagogies that take advantage of the use of information and communication technology (ICT).

185 selected teachers from the two regions are participating in the 4-day trainer of trainees’ workshop on digital skills and reproductive health in ho.

It also enables them to acquire skills in areas such as digital literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity and innovation.

Another reason behind such digital training for teachers is to support teachers to scale up a technology-enabled open school system that can connect school-based and home-based learning to ensure the continuity and quality of learning no matter what the circumstances.

Dr. Ephraim Kwaa-Aidoo is a lecturer at the University of Ghana and is facilitating the workshop.

An executive officer, Vasty Nunana Egbetorhia, disclosed that the exercise is to help infuse the use of ICT teaching.

Participants were taken through such basic ICT topics as introduction to video conferencing tools and lms (zoom, Microsoft team, Google classroom, and Moodle), using ICT to support assessment and basic ICT skills: getting to know your digital device, among others.
