Former WBO super bantamweight champion, Isaac the royal storm Dogboe, is predicting an early win in his upcoming world title eliminator on July 23.
At a media briefing in Accra, he said though Gonzalez is a tough fighter, he is working out strategy to deal with his aggression in the ring.
Since losing his WBO super bantamweight title to Emmanuel Navarrete in December 2018 and a back to back challenge defeat in 2019, Isaac the royal storm Dogboe has been looking for the opportunity to get back to the top.
He won all three fights against Chris Avalos, Adams Lopez and Christopher Diaz between July 2020 and November 2021.
He now has a rare opportunity to face once again the man who put a stop to his unbeaten record, Emmanuel Navarrete, this time at the featherweight division.
And the boxer says Joet de Jesus Gonzalez, cannot be the stumbling block in his third battle with Navarrete.
It’s not going to be an easy fight. I will make it easy, I pray god to make easy. God willing, I will knock him out before round seven. When the name was brought forward, I said yes why? Two things. I want to prove something and next is to test myself because if the champion has the same stature with this person and he has the tittle and I really, really want the title back, am gonna fight someone with the similar stature in orde to prepare myself for him.
Dogboe also spoke about his plans for the final eliminator.
He a kind of guy that punches from round one to round twelve. He has a chance. So, we know this. Okay in the past, I’ve relied on my strength and you know I knock a lot of people out. But he is coming with fire. I could also go with fire and fight fire with fire but at the end, what’s going to happen, and we going to have like a big nuclear clash. But as some point, the way you suppress your enemy, you go with fire and you bate him in and that’s where we are going to get him.
GBA president, Abraham Kotei Neequaye, called for support for the boxer.
If you look at Ghanaian boxers, the only hope we have is Isaac Dogboe whether you like it or not and we are praying had that he wins the elimination bout and will bring the world title back to the country
The bout is slated for July 23 in Minnesota USA.
