The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested a suspected gang leader, his mother and three others in connection with a highway robbery on the Enyiresi-Sekyere stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway.
The robbery occurred on 18 August 2026, according to the Police.
The suspects include Obotan, identified by investigators as the alleged gang leader; his biological mother, who police say concealed a weapon allegedly used in the robbery; Issaka Napson, described as a suspected weapons supplier; Issaka Majeed; and Majeed Huzeifa.
Police also say a 14-year-old juvenile, allegedly serving as a lookout for the robbers, was arrested during the investigation.
Searches conducted at the suspects’ residences reportedly led to the recovery of several weapons and items believed to be connected to the alleged criminal operation.
Among the items recovered were an ADLER pump-action gun, a double-barrel gun, three single-barrel guns, a locally manufactured pistol, three cutlasses and ammunition.
Police also recovered two pairs of handcuffs, two jackknives, pepper spray, a pinch bar, an ammunition pouch, a tactical vest and an unregistered Royal 125 motorbike.
The Police say all the arrested suspects are in custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend another suspect identified as Tanko.
The arrests form part of a wider intelligence-led operation by the Ghana Police Service targeting suspected armed robbery networks and the movement of illegal weapons.
