Robbery Crackdown: Police Arrested Four in Bolgatanga, AK47, Ammunition Recovered

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspected armed robbers in Bolgatanga following an intelligence-led operation, linking them to a string of violent attacks across the Upper East and North East Regions.

The four were arrested after police investigations into a robbery operation at Gbane in the Talensi District.

The suspects, Abdulai Ibrahim, Amadu Rahman, Amadu Sulemana, aka, Saaga, and Adu Yakubu, were picked up on May 5, 2026, after police investigations into a robbery operation at Gbane in the Talensi District.

According to police, the group travelled from Yagaba and Fumbisi and allegedly robbed victims of motorbikes and mobile phones.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to multiple robbery incidents along the Yagaba–Fumbisi and Yagaba–Nanguruma roads.

They also claimed responsibility of a 2025 attack on a phone shop in Bolgatanga that went viral, with the suspects seen wielding an assault rifle.

Police say the suspects again admitted to several robberies at mining sites in Gbane, where they allegedly made away with gold and large sums of money.

The suspects later led investigators to a farm near Biung, where an AK-47 rifle and eighty-seven rounds of ammunition were retrieved from a concealed location.

However, during the operation, one of the suspects, Amadu Rahman, reportedly collapsed and was pronounced dead at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.

The remaining three suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned before court.
