Rev. Stephen Wengam and Wife Sponsor Legacy Temple for Paknatik Central Assemblies of God

The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, together with his wife Monica Wengam, has sponsored the construction of a legacy temple for the Paknatik Central Assemblies of God in the North East Region, Ghana.

In addition to the church building, the couple also donated 300 brand-new plastic chairs and musical instruments to support worship activities at the local assembly.

Rev. Wengam explained that the project was undertaken in fulfilment of a request made by his late mother, Deborah Wengam, before her passing in October 2024. Paknatik is also the paternal hometown of the General Superintendent.

According to him, the project was largely funded by himself and his wife, who contributed about 85 percent of the construction cost, while members of the Paknatik Central Assemblies of God raised the remaining 15 percent.

The newly constructed church building, which has a seating capacity of about 350 worshippers, has been named the Rev. Elijah Namyela Panka Temple in honour of Rev. Elijah Namyela Panka, the first indigenous General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana. Rev. Panka played a significant role in establishing the church in Paknatik in the 1960s.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony, Rev. Wengam encouraged pastors and church leaders across the country to emulate such initiatives by supporting the construction of decent places of worship, particularly for churches in rural and underserved communities.

Rev. Wengam and his wife have so far sponsored the construction of five legacy temples across the country, with a sixth project currently underway.
