One suspected armed robber has been shot dead by police during an operation in Labone, Accra, following a reported robbery incident in the early hours Wednesday February 11.
According to police sources, the suspect was part of a group believed to be behind a series of robbery attacks within the Labone and Osu enclaves.

The police were alerted after residents reported a robbery in progress, prompting a swift response from patrol officers in the area.
Suspect Shot During Exchange of Fire
Preliminary information indicates that upon sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee. In the process, one of them allegedly opened fire on the officers, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
The suspect was shot during the confrontation and later pronounced dead while receiving medical attention. The other members of the gang reportedly managed to escape and are currently being pursued.
Weapon Retrieved
Police say a locally manufactured firearm and ammunition were retrieved from the deceased suspect. Investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the gang’s activities and to track down the remaining accomplices.
Police Reassure Public
The Ghana Police Service has assured residents of Labone and surrounding communities of heightened patrols and renewed intelligence-led operations to curb criminal activity.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and to voluntarily share information that may assist ongoing investigations.
Investigation Ongoing
The body of the deceased suspect has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy, while the incident has been referred to the appropriate internal review processes in line with police operational procedures.
Police say further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
