A female student of Osino Presbyterian Senior High School has allegedly been gang-raped during an interschools sports competition held in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The student was reportedly found in a weak and distressed condition and was transported on a tricycle motorbike to the police, before being referred to the Eastern Regional Hospital for medical attention.
The incident is said to have occurred at a location some distance from the Koforidua Sports Stadium, where the finals of the interschools competition were underway on Friday.

The alleged assault happened against the backdrop of violent clashes between students of Pope John Senior High School and Seminary School. During the confrontation, students reportedly pelted each other with stones, triggering panic and disrupting activities at the stadium. Police officers were deployed to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
The developments come barely a day after another violent incident involving students in Koforidua. A final-year student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) was allegedly stabbed in the shoulder and back during a separate confrontation. The suspect in that case is reported to be a student of New Juaben Senior High School.

The injured SECTECH student has since been admitted to hospital and has reportedly undergone surgery.
Police say investigations have been launched into both incidents, as concerns grow over student safety during interschools activities.
