The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery incident that led to the death of a miner at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, Rahman Adams, also known as Wale, was arrested on January 18, 2026, at Pomposo through an intelligence-led operation.
The arrest follows a residential robbery attack that occurred on December 12, 2025, during which armed assailants stormed a house at Asonkore. Police who responded to the incident discovered the body of a 42-year-old miner inside the residence.

Details of the Attack
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attackers gained access by cutting through a burglar-proof window, after which they made away with GH¢2,600 in cash, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key. The deceased was reportedly assaulted during the robbery, leading to his death.
Investigators also recovered hammers, machetes, and cutters from the crime scene. The victim’s body was deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Manhunt for Accomplices
Police say two other suspects, including one identified only as A.T. and a Nigerian national, are believed to have played key roles in the robbery and murder and are currently at large.
Rahman Adams remains in police custody, assisting with investigations, while efforts continue to track down and arrest the remaining accomplices to face justice.
The Police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring all persons involved in the crime are brought before the law.
