The Central North Regional Police Command has launched investigations into an incident involving acts tending to disturb public peace, which resulted in a mob attack on a suspect at Assin Wurakese in the Central Region.
The incident occurred on January 11, 2026, at about 1:30 p.m., when the Assin Akropong Police received a distress call reporting that a man, identified as Yeboah Kenneth Buabeng, aged 32, had allegedly attacked a couple, Daniel Ababio and his wife, Sarah Amoah, and their friend, Nicholas Addae, with a cutlass at their residence.

Police investigations indicate that the victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Akoti Health Centre at Assin Akropong for medical treatment.
While the suspect, who also sustained injuries during the incident, was on his way to seek medical attention, some irate youth from the community reportedly pursued him to the health facility and attacked him, causing panic among hospital staff. He was later rescued through the intervention of health workers.
The injured couple and their friend were subsequently referred to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Foso for further treatment. Police say Daniel Ababio and Nicholas Addae have since been treated and discharged, while the suspect remains on admission under police guard.
The suspect, Yeboah Kenneth Buabeng, has been arrested and is currently assisting police with investigations. Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals involved in the mob attack.

Following directives from the Central North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Abraham Acquaye, the Assin Foso Divisional Police Commander, ACP Dr Winfred Asare-Nyarko, and the District Police Commander, ASP Jacob Kumedzro, together with the District Medical Director, held engagements with hospital staff to assure them of their safety.
The Regional Police Command says it is also engaging opinion leaders and community stakeholders to ensure calm and to sensitise residents on the dangers and legal consequences of mob justice.
