The Ghana Police Service, through the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police, has arrested a suspect in connection with a daylight armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Adabraka, Accra, in which ₵7.5 million was stolen.
The robbery, which occurred on 2nd November 2024, involved proceeds from a gold transaction that were being transported to a bank when the attack took place.

After months of sustained intelligence-led operations, police arrested the suspect, identified as Salim Mohammed, also known as Fariwata, on 20th November 2025 at a hospital in Ashaiman, where he had sought medical attention.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, together with his accomplices armed with AK-47 assault rifles, intercepted the victim’s vehicle and fired several shots to disperse onlookers. The driver of the vehicle sustained gunshot injuries during the attack, after which the suspects fled with the cash.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations, while efforts continue to trace and arrest the remaining accomplices and recover the stolen money.
The Ghana Police Service is appealing to the public for credible information that could aid ongoing investigations and lead to the arrest of the other suspects.
