The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested Stephen Kwakye for allegedly conspiring to commit robbery against a gold miner at Manso Abrense, near Manso Nsiana in the Ashanti Region.
The suspect was arrested on 30th December 2025 following intelligence that he and other accomplices were planning an attack on a victim who regularly transports gold to Kumasi for sale.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Stephen Kwakye played a central role in orchestrating the planned robbery, including monitoring the victim’s movements and coordinating with accomplices to strike while the miner was in transit.
Acting on the intelligence, police officers placed the suspect under surveillance and arrested him when he appeared to collect his share of the proceeds after being falsely informed that the robbery had been carried out.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to organising the robbery.
He is currently in police custody assisting investigations, while efforts continue to identify and arrest his accomplices to face the full rigours of the law.
