The Ghana Police Service has arrested a Nigerian national, Victor Benjamin Fujumil Kum, 26, who is wanted by Nigerian authorities for the alleged murder of a woman and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Kum was arrested after a viral video circulating online alleged that he had abducted and murdered a female officer of Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and her child. Nigerian police had launched a manhunt for him, but the suspect reportedly fled to Ghana, hiding with friends in Akyem Wenchi.

Acting on intelligence, officers of the Eastern South Regional Police Command mounted a swift operation and tracked the suspect to a house at Akyem Wenchi in the Eastern Region, where he was arrested.

The suspect is currently in police custody while processes are underway to hand him over to Nigerian authorities.

The Police Service is urging the public to remain vigilant and report all suspicious persons or activities in their communities, emphasising the importance of community cooperation in preventing crime.

Security agencies have intensified patrols and expanded intelligence operations, with the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) and Criminal Investigations Department (CID) credited for several recent successful arrests across various jurisdictions.

The Eastern South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ohene Boadi Bossman, assured that further updates will be provided as the investigations progress.
