
The Cape Coast Circuit Court 2, presided over by Nana Aba Quaiba Nunoo, has sentenced 26-year-old Eric Asamoah to 16 years’ imprisonment in hard labour for sodomy.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and was convicted on his own plea.
According to the prosecution team led by Chief Inspector Siman Sartey, the incident occurred on November 3, 2025, at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
The suspect was tracked and arrested with the assistance of the victim’s father.
The 7-year-old victim was immediately taken to the Saltpond Municipal Hospital for medical examination and treatment, where he is said to be responding well to care.
the Prosecution said during interrogation, Eric Asamoah admitted to the offence in his caution statement, leading to swift prosecution.
Subsequently, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and was convicted on his own plea to a16 years imprisonment in hard labour.
The Central Regional Police Command has assured the public that due process was followed to ensure justice for the victim and reiterated its commitment to protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
