
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly plotting to assassinate a chief in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor andSeth Butuakwa, were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation.
Their arrests came after police uncovered a plot to eliminate the chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar, scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Akyem Kwabeng.
According to a statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Police Command, DSP David Fianko-Okyere, police acted on intelligence received on October 11, 2025, and deployed an undercover team that successfully infiltrated the suspects’ network.
During the operation, suspect Emelia Akua Asor allegedly offered 50,000cedi

s to the officers to kill the chief and another woman believed to be in line for installation as Queen.
She is said to have instructed her accomplice, Seth Butuakwa, to assist in identifying the residences of the intended victims.
Seth subsequently led the officers to the homes of both individuals and provided a photograph of the chief to aid the planned attack.
The suspects reportedly promised an additional 50,000 cedis after the crime was carried out.
Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court soon.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining the security of all residents, particularly traditional leaders in the region.
