The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of two suspects in connection with a robbery incident at Spintex, Accra, as part of its commitment to transparency and accountability in handling cases of public concern.

On 14 September 2025, two armed men broke into the residence of a 35-year-old man at about 3:25 a.m. and made away with valuables, including gold jewellery, wristwatches, handbags, clothing, a laptop, and cash totalling US$5,000 and ₵21,645.

According to the Director General of CID, COP Lydia Yaakor Donkor, Police officers who visited the scene retrieved a machete, a metal cutter, and a T-shirt believed to have been left behind by the suspects. The crime scene was documented, and swift investigations were launched.

Acting on intelligence, the Police on 18 September 2025 arrested Prince Opoku, alias Agyenkwa, and a Nigerian national, Jennifer Nweke, at Adenta. A search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of some stolen items, including jewellery, mobile phones, and large sums of cash.

COP Lydia Donkor says the suspects later directed investigators to their hideout at Agbogba, where additional stolen items belonging to the complainant were retrieved. During interrogation, Opoku admitted to the crime and identified an accomplice, Mensah, alias Taller, as the leader of the operation. He further led the Police to Glefe, a suburb of Dansoman Last Stop, where more items—including a Philippine passport, two purses containing ATM and business cards, and other travel documents—were discovered near a rubbish dump close to his second residence.

Police say efforts are underway to track down Mensah and other accomplices currently on the run. Both Opoku and Nweke remain in custody, assisting investigations, and will be arraigned before the court.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service assured the public that all individuals connected to the robbery will be brought to justice.

“On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, we commend all officers involved in these investigations for their professionalism and dedication,” the statement read.

“We encourage the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support our work. Together, we can build a safer and more secure Ghana.”
