The incident occurred on 19th May 2024, when police responded to a violent attack at a residence and discovered 39-year-old Alberta Hagan and two of her children lying in a pool of blood. A third child was found alive but with severe head injuries, while a five-month-old baby was discovered unharmed on a sofa in the hall.

The injured child was rushed to hospital, and the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. A postmortem later confirmed that the victims had died from severe head injuries inflicted during the assault.

Investigations revealed that the suspect, Samuel Amoah, also known as Biggie, had been living with the victims. He was reportedly in a relationship with Alberta Hagan, which had recently deteriorated over financial disputes. According to police, Amoah attacked Alberta and the two children who witnessed the altercation before fleeing the scene.

After more than a year of intelligence-led operations, police arrested Amoah on 17th September 2025 at Suhum in the Eastern Region. During interrogation, he confessed to the killings and expressed remorse for his actions.

Briefing the media in Accra, the Director General of Police CID, COP Lydia Yaakor Donkor, said the suspect is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court to face charges of murder.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the case is being handled with urgency and professionalism to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
