Ghana’s Best Boxer of the year and fast-rising boxing star, Joseph Commey, has added another accolade to his blossoming career, winning the National Lightweight title with a sensational knockout victory over the experienced Victor Kuwornu at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist and Boxing Ghana Awards Boxer of the Year, who also struck gold at the 13th African Games, remains undefeated after three professional bouts. He also holds the UBA Africa Lightweight title, making him one of the hottest prospects in Ghanaian boxing.
Commey, who fights out of the Black Panthers Gym, said after the win that many local fighters are avoiding him, pushing him to seek opportunities beyond Ghana.
“Opponents here are running away, so I want to hit the continental and global stage,” he declared.
His manager, Alex Ntiamoah Boakye, confirmed that plans are underway to secure major fights for Commey in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
“He’s the eye of Bukom right now. Bigger opportunities are coming,” Boakye told reporters.
