
The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic deaths of eight high-ranking government officials and military officers in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The victims were:
- Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence
- Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
- Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister of Food and Agriculture
- Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
- Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former Parliamentary Candidate
- Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala
- Flying Officer Amaning Twum Ampadu
- Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

The FWSC described the incident as a “dark moment in the nation’s history,” noting that the deceased were not only committed public servants but patriots who devoted their lives to the service of Ghana.
“We mourn alongside the Government and people of Ghana, particularly His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, the Ghana Armed Forces, and all bereaved families,” the statement read. “Their sacrifices and invaluable contributions to governance, national security, and development will forever be remembered.”
The Commission called for unity in honouring the memory of the departed, urging Ghanaians to let their legacy inspire continued dedication to building a better nation.
