AIB Ghana Expresses Heartfelt Condolences Over Tragic Helicopter Crash

The Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIB Ghana) has expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the entire nation following the tragic military helicopter crash on Tuesday, August 6, 2025.

The crash occurred at Adansi Brofoyedru near Sikaman in the Ashanti Region and claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians:

  1. Hon. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence
  2. Hon. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation
  3. Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
  4. Hon. Samuel Sarpong, Vice-Chairman of the NDC and former Regional Minister
  5. Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO
  6. Sqn. Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Pilot
  7. F/O Manin Twum Ampadu, Co-Pilot
  8. Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah, Crew Member

In a statement signed by the Acting Commissioner, Mr. John M. K. Wumborti, AIB Ghana described the incident as a national tragedy that has shaken the very foundations of Ghana’s key institutions. “Their untimely passing is not only a personal loss to their families and colleagues but a profound blow to our nation. These were men of service, courage, and integrity—dedicated to the peace, safety, and development of Ghana,” the statement read.

While acknowledging the pain and grief engulfing the country, AIB Ghana affirmed its solidarity with the affected families and pledged its full support during this difficult time.

“We pray for the repose of their souls and hope their legacy of patriotism and dedication lives on in the hearts of all Ghanaians. May they rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
