The Kusaug Traditional Council, under the leadership of the Bawku Naba, Zug-Raan Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, expresses its sincere appreciation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for his recent visit to Bawku. The Council acknowledges the IGP’s commitment to investigating the tragic incident that led to the loss of one life and injuries to several others.

This visit reflects the IGP’s dedication to transparency, justice, and accountability—principles that align with the Kusaug Traditional Council’s enduring values of peace, development, and the preservation of community identity.

The Council reiterates its unwavering commitment to promoting peace and stability within the Bawku enclave. The Zug-Raan Bawku Naba has consistently advocated for unity, calm, and constructive dialogue as essential tools in addressing the longstanding conflict. We call on the youth and the general public to refrain from any acts of violence or provocation and to place their trust in the due process of the law.

In light of the IGP’s visit and efforts toward reconciliation, the Kusaug Traditional Council respectfully appeals to the Ghana Police Service to resume full operations in the Kusaug area. We urge the IGP to instruct the Divisional Command to redeploy officers to maintain law and order, while continuing to engage with community leaders and residents.

The Council remains open to collaborating with all stakeholders—security agencies, government officials, and civil society organizations—to ensure a peaceful and secure environment in Bawku.

We echo the IGP’s message of collective action and dialogue, and believe that only through cooperation and mutual understanding can we achieve lasting peace. The Kusaug Traditional Council calls on all parties to put peace above all else, and work together towards healing and rebuilding trust within the community.
