In a thrilling showdown in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi, rising star Stanley ‘Ashanti Warrior’ Nyantakyi electrified the crowd as he clinched the national featherweight title by defeating the experienced Emmanuel ‘Akufo-Addo’ Quartey.
This victory marks Nyantakyi’s second title in twelve professional fights, solidifying his status as a formidable force in the world of boxing.
Dubbed “homecoming,” the event was the inaugural Osibor boxing promotion held outside of Accra, and both fighters were determined to claim the spotlight.
Known as the Ashanti Warrior, Stanley Nyantakyi aimed to showcase that boxing prowess is not confined to Accra but resonates throughout the Ashanti Kingdom.
The match was a display of youthful energy versus seasoned experience, with both fighters unleashing a barrage of jabs and punches from the opening bell.
Despite suffering a leg injury in the third round, Emmanuel Quartey fought on, but ultimately succumbed to Nyantakyi’s relentless assault in the fourth round, conceding defeat after 1 minute and 56 seconds.
In a post-match statement, the newly crowned national featherweight champion, Stanley Nyantakyi, expressed his gratitude to the Asantehene, vowing to bring honour to the Asanteman by conquering African and world titles.
