The Church of Pentecost has declared a three-day fasting and prayer session for the safe release of their National Deacon who was abducted during last Sunday’s armed robbery incident.
The attack which lasted about 3 minutes happened on Sunday, October 29, 2023 whilst church service was ongoing at a Johannesburg branch of the church, which traces it origin to Ghana.
In an October 31, a statement issued and signed by the chairman of the Church of Pentecost in Ghana, Apostle Eric Nyamekye said the fasting will start from October 31 to November 2, 2023.
The Apostle explained that while Jesus’ disciple Peter was kept in prison, the church earnestly prayed to God for him thus, it is imperative the church also prays for the National Deacon for South Africa, identified as Emmanuel Cudjoe.
“In the meantime, the church will embark on a three-day prayer and fasting session…for the health and release of our brother,” Apostle Eric Nyamekye declared in his statement.
Beyond the safe release of the National Deacon, the fasting and prayer is also targeted at global peace which includes intercessory prayers for Gaza and Ukraine currently facing crisis.
“During the period, we will also be interceding for Global Peace, with particular emphasis on the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.”
The statement added that there will be virtual joint prayer sessions every day at 22:00 GMT held from the studios of Pent TV, Facebook, YouTube or Zoom.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s High Commission in South Africa says the police are working hard to ensure the safe release of of The Church of Pentecost Elder.
