According to police reports, a patrol team responded swiftly to intelligence that four armed men were attacking passengers at Mallam Junction. On sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee, but three were apprehended.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Stephen Amoani (42), Osei Antwi (30), and Kwame Mike. One other suspect, Kofi Sammy, who was reportedly wielding a pump-action gun, managed to escape.

A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of a machetes concealed at the back of suspect Osei Antwi, a black Honda CR-V with trade plate number DV 3145–2025, three yellow gallons of akpeteshie, a bag containing GH₵12,055, and three mobile phones—a Samsung A05, an iPhone 16, and an Itel Android phone—all believed to be stolen items.

However, police say suspect Kwame Mike later escaped from custody after requesting to use the washroom while in detention. The officer who escorted him has since been invited for questioning as part of ongoing administrative investigations.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, the remaining two suspects, Stephen Amoani and Osei Antwi, were arraigned before the Weija Circuit Court. The charges and facts were read and explained to them in the Twi language, which they understood. Both pleaded not guilty and were remanded into police custody to reappear on November 10, 2025.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to arrest the two suspects currently at large, Kwame Mike and Kofi Sammy, to assist with investigations. All retrieved exhibits have been retained as evidence, while the impounded vehicle remains in police custody for further action.

Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Regional Police Command, Superintendent Juliana Obeng has reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and urged the public to continue providing credible information to help in ongoing investigations and crime prevention.
