
The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the violence at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace during the Homowo Festival on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
A joint team from the Accra Regional Command and the Special Support Unit of the National Headquarters picked up the suspects, Christian Saka Ahianyevi, 35, a private security officer, and Newton Alotey, 26, a dispatch rider. Ahianyevi was arrested on August 30, while Alotey was picked up the following day.
The violence left three people dead and several others injured.
Police say 18 spent BB cartridges were retrieved from Alotey at the time of his arrest, while Ahianyevi was found with a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other exhibits. All the items have since been secured.
Both suspects are in custody assisting with investigations, as police maintain a heavy security presence in the affected communities.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged residents and factions involved to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. The public is also encouraged to provide credible information on the whereabouts of other suspects by calling the police emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
