Two Arrested for Possession of Firearms Without Lawful Authority in Ashanti Region

The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for unlawful possession of firearms, following an intelligence-led operation conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, 9th July 2025.

The targeted operation took place at known hideouts in Nweneso, Trabuom, and Nkwawie, resulting in the arrest of Acheampong Kwadwo, aged 21 and James Antwi Adjei, aged 24

During a search, police recovered two pump-action shotguns, one with serial number ASAO 2164 2021 and one without a serial number

The firearms are suspected to be stolen and were possibly intended for use in planned robbery operations across the Atwima Districts and the Greater Kumasi area.

Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. The seized firearms have been retained as evidence.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command says further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
