The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has secured the conviction of three armed robbers who attacked and robbed commuters along the Jacobu–Anwiankwanta road in the Amansie Central District.

On October 27, 2025, the Bekwai Circuit Court, presided over by Appiatu, sentenced Peter Boadi (alias Kwao Ziggy), Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso to 20 years imprisonment each for conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

According to police investigations, the convicts, on April 29, 2024, launched an armed attack on their victims at Fiankoma near Jacobu, robbing them of two iPhones and ₵7,000 in cash. They also compelled one of their victims, a Chinese national, to transfer ₵30,000 via mobile money to an account belonging to one of their accomplices.

Following months of intelligence-led operations, police tracked and arrested the suspects between June and September 2024. A search conducted at Peter Boadi’s residence at Obuasi Bogobiri led to the discovery of a foreign-made Bruna pistol, a locally manufactured pistol, and ammunition, which were used as evidence during the trial.

The Ghana Police Service has commended the investigative team for their diligence and professionalism, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that criminals are brought to justice.

“The successful prosecution of these offenders demonstrates our resolve to make communities safer by ensuring that offenders face the full rigour of the law,”
