Journalists covering Ghana’s 59th national Independence Day celebrations in Accra on Sunday were shocked when they were given a rather unorthodox means of transportation.

Both foreign and local journalists numbering about 20, were put at the bucket of a sand tipper truck to accompany the President John Dramani Mahama as he drove in special open-top vehicle to review a parade of school children and security forces in Accra.

Photos from the event held at the Independence Square showed journalists climbing the truck with the use of an aluminium ladder; a development that has again brought to the fore how poorly journalists, especially those covering the presidency, are treated. https://www.youtube.com/embed/Y9Buwh3K5d8
