Suspect Arrested for Possession of Firearms Linked to Recent Rioting in Nkwanta

The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Military, has arrested a suspect for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition believed to be linked to recent violent rioting activities in Nkwanta and surrounding areas.

On 1st August 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., acting on credible intelligence, a joint Police and Military team conducted an intelligence-led operation at a location opposite King’s Filling Station Down. To ensure public safety and prevent any escape, the area was immediately cordoned off.

A search of the premises led to the discovery of two single-barrel guns and four AAA ammunition hidden in the room of Francis Donkor, 50. The suspect was promptly arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.

The retrieved firearms and ammunition have been secured as evidence to support further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security and cautions the public against the unlawful possession and use of firearms, warning that offenders will face the full force of the law.
