In the Wassa Akropong District, officers conducted major operations along the Wassa Akropong–Japa–Dadieso road, where all 23 suspects were arrested. The team also stormed the Obeng Mining Group site at Wassa Japa, where 64 changfan machines used for illegal mining were dismantled and rendered inoperable.

At Wassa Dominase, acting on a separate intelligence tip-off, police moved to stop illegal mining activities near the Goil and Energy Oil filling stations along the Agona Amenfi–Gyedua Kesse Junction road. During the operation, seven changfan machines and washing boards were disabled. Officers also retrieved three water pumping machines and one pickaxe from the site.

In another coordinated response at Asankrangwa, police intercepted illegal mining near the 1D1F building located along the Asankra Saah–Asankra Kwabeng road. This led to the seizure of three water pumping machines and four unregistered motorbikes.

All 23 suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national anti-illegal mining campaigns, calling on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
