
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into a deadly shooting incident that occurred on April 29, 2025, at Asiyaw, a community near Akwane-Dobro in the Nsawam area, resulting in the deaths of five men.
According to a police statement, a crime scene team dispatched to the location found the lifeless bodies of five adult males, all with gunshot wounds.
Items recovered from the scene include:
One Toyota Tacoma vehicle, one Toyota Tundra vehicle, one pump-action shotgun with 17 live cartridges, four empty cartridges, three 7.62/39mm shell casings, one 9mm shell casing and five heavy-duty motorbikes
Preliminary investigations point to a violent confrontation between two rival groups over sand-winning activities at the site of the incident.
The deceased have been transported to the Police Hospital mortuary in Accra for preservation, identification, and autopsy.
Police say efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice, urging the public to remain calm and provide any relevant information to assist the investigation.
