Duadaso, Bono Region,

Residents of the Jaman North District in the Bono Region are raising alarm over alleged acts of extortion and harassment by some police officers stationed at a checkpoint near Duadaso, along the Sampa–Nsawkaw highway.
According to information gathered by UTV Bono Regional Correspondent, Williams Arthur, the alleged extortion network is believed to be operating under the Jaman North Police Command, with reports that officers routinely harass and intimidate commuters, particularly farmers, teachers, and health workers who ply the route daily.

The area, known for its cashew production, is home to many peasant farmers who say they have endured years of mistreatment and financial exploitation at police checkpoints.
In one reported incident, a motorcyclist who refused to pay an alleged bribe and demanded an official receipt was said to have been harassed, arrested, and detained at the police station.

A resident, who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity, described the situation as persistent and worsening.
“This has been happening for a long time. The police intimidate people, especially farmers and traders. We are pleading with the IGP and the Regional Minister to intervene before the situation escalates,” the resident lamented.

Residents are appealing to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Ministry of the Interior, and the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to launch an investigation into the allegations and ensure that any officers found culpable are sanctioned.
