Police Arrest Suspect in Gruesome Murder of 23-Year-Old Woman in Abuakwa

Ashanti Region – The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 34-year-old Robert Kwabena Boamah in connection with the brutal murder of a young woman in Abuakwa.

The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his hideout in Namong, near Offinso, following a swift police investigation.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, April 21, sent shockwaves through the Tanoso Electoral Area in the Kwadaso Municipality after residents reported the discovery of a female body near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex in Dominase.

A police team dispatched to the scene identified the deceased as 23-year-old Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Abena. Her body was found with multiple stab wounds. At the scene, police also found an abandoned Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number AS 8575-Y, with its ignition key still in place.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the taxi belonged to the suspect. He was subsequently tracked down and arrested. During interrogation, Boamah admitted to the crime.

According to police, the suspect appeared weak during questioning and confessed to attempting suicide by ingesting weedicide following the murder. He was immediately taken to the Abuakwa Polyclinic, treated, and later discharged.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be arraigned before court as investigations continue.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and delivering justice to victims and their families.
