The member of parliament for Bawku central, Mahama Ayariga, has expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and the Zongin community as a whole for the heinous act of military cruelty.

The legislator was in the area to experience firsthand the full scope of the February 1 military cruelty, which claimed eight lives.

The lawmaker had already dismissed the GAF’s justification for engaging a group of armed individuals and neutralizing six of them.

He argued that the military’s explanations for the tragic Wednesday deaths are inadmissible, which is why he asked the commission for human rights and administrative justice (CHRAJ) to look into the military’s activities in Bawku.

He urged the government to make sure that, unlike in some of the neighboring nations, there are no problems between the people and the state.

He emphasized that the state becomes a valid target for the people when they have grievances against the state and don’t believe that the state’s internal systems provide them with a remedy.
