The Kwabenya District Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has held a road safety conference with members of the Atomic Junction Drivers Union as part of sustained efforts to promote safer road use and reduce road traffic crashes within the district.
The engagement took place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the union’s station under the drivers’ office pavilion, with union executives and several drivers in attendance.
During the conference, MTTD officers addressed key road safety issues from both legal and practical perspectives. Discussions focused on the safety of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians, the importance of effective vehicle maintenance, and the need for valid and authentic vehicle documentation. Participants were also reminded to strictly comply with road traffic rules and regulations, observe proper driving conduct in line with road standards, and remain alert to potential road hazards.

Drivers were further sensitised on the need for responsible and disciplined driving to help curb road crashes, reduce the recent rise in road traffic fatalities, and safeguard lives and property.
The programme featured a one-hour continuous lecture, followed by an interactive session where participants asked questions, shared experiences, and exchanged views with traffic officers. The discussion was lively and engaging, prompting union executives to request that the exercise be paused and continued at a later date to allow for deeper engagement.
The MTTD assured the union of its readiness to sustain such educational initiatives in the interest of road safety and public protection.
