The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, promoted thirty (30) police officers to their next ranks on January 5, 2025,in recognition of their exemplary conduct and professionalism during major security operations in the Ashanti Region.

The promotions follow two significant operations: the interception and retrieval of 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition at the Kantanso–Asankare Police Barrier, and the dismantling of a notorious armed robbery syndicate along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch during the Christmas season.

The gesture, according to police authorities, is in acknowledgment of the officers’ vigilance, dedication to duty, and commitment to public safety.

Officers promoted in connection with the Kantanso–Asankare operation include:

  • C/Insp. Tibim Acheampong Solomon
  • Insp. Sarfo Adu Daniel
  • No. 58311 G/L Cpl. Saeed Frimpong

During the Kantanso–Asankare operation, the officers conducted a detailed search of a commercial bus and uncovered two concealed containers holding 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. A bag hidden beneath the driver’s seat was also found to contain two bulletproof plates, a crushed black ballistic helmet, and a pair of long boots.

In addition, twenty other personnel from the Intelligence Units of the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were promoted for their roles in intelligence-led operations at Manso Nkwanta, Antoakrom, and surrounding communities. These operations resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition, the disruption of armed robbery activities, and the prevention of planned attacks on commuters.

Commending the officers, the IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), praised their courage, alertness, and professionalism, noting that their actions prevented highly dangerous weapons from falling into criminal hands.

The IGP further encouraged all personnel of the Ghana Police Service to uphold the highest standards of discipline and professionalism, assuring them that the Police Administration remains committed to recognising, appreciating, and rewarding hard work and exemplary service.
