A Level 400 student of Gambaga College of Education was shot dead in a targeted attack after watching a UEFA Champions League match. Another student remains in critical condition as police investigate the growing wave of violence in the area.
A Level 400 student of Gambaga College of Education, identified as Salifu, was shot dead around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in what appears to be a targeted attack.
Salifu, a Kusasi native from Zebilla, had just returned from a DSTV viewing center after watching the UEFA Champions League fixture between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
While standing in front of his residence, engaged in a discussion with friends about the match, two gunmen on a motorbike arrived, singled him out, and shot him at close range.
The police later arrived at the scene to retrieve the body.
Another student sustained gunshot wounds and remains in critical condition.
This incident follows a similar attack two weeks ago, where unidentified gunmen attempted to assassinate another Kusasi student in Gambaga, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the rising incidents of violence in the area.
