Gov’t to Construct 2,000 CHPS Compounds by 2029-Felix Kwakye Ofosu

The Minister of Communications at the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced the government’s ambitious plan to construct 2,000 CHPS compounds across Ghana within the next four years.

According to him, 600 CHPS compounds will be completed by the end of 2025, as part of a broader initiative funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). The goal, he said, is to bring quality healthcare to the doorsteps of Ghanaians, particularly in deprived and hard-to-reach communities.

“Each district will receive at least two new CHPS compounds, and we are determined to complete 600 of them by December 2025,” Hon. Kwakye Ofosu told GHOne News reporter Yaw Boagyan.

He stressed that primary healthcare infrastructure remains a top priority for the John Mahama-led administration, noting that accessible and well-equipped CHPS facilities are essential to achieving universal health coverage.

The Minister made these remarks during a visit to the Brafoyaw Health Centre in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District, where he donated essential medical equipment to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

He revealed that although he was unable to provide direct support to health facilities while serving as a parliamentary candidate prior to the 2024 general election, he had pledged to assist once elected — a promise he has now begun to fulfill.

“This donation is just the beginning. We will ensure that every community under my mandate receives the healthcare infrastructure and equipment it deserves,” he stated.

The residents of Brafoyaw, who received the donation with joy, praised the MP for his timely intervention, highlighting the severe lack of medical resources at their facility.

“We are over 2,000 people in this community, and until now, we had just one old hospital bed,” one resident said. “We often had to travel to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment. This support will make a real difference.”

Kwakye Ofosu assured his constituents that more development projects are on the way, adding that he is fully committed to delivering on his 2024 campaign promises both as a minister and Member of Parliament.
