A routine afternoon in Techiman turned into a major police discovery when a tricycle accident exposed a hidden haul of nearly 400 slabs of suspected cannabis. The incident has left residents shocked and authorities scrambling to track down the fleeing driver involved.

At around 2 p.m. on March 8, 2026, a Motor King tricycle carrying 14 bags of charcoal collided with a stationary Kia Rhino truck near Techiman Methodist Park.
Police responding to the scene made a startling discovery: inside the charcoal bags were 397 compressed slabs of suspected cannabis, cleverly concealed.

The tricycle rider, 48-year-old Robert Tannor, sustained serious leg injuries in the crash and was rushed to Holy Family Hospital under police guard.
Meanwhile, the Kia Rhino truck sped away from the scene, and authorities are now calling on the public to help identify the driver as investigations continue.

This accident has turned a local traffic incident into a high-stakes criminal investigation, highlighting the ingenuity of traffickers and the vigilance of the Bono East Regional Police Command.
