Ghana’s newly elected boxing administrator, Dauda Fuseni, has been appointed President of African Zone 2 (West Africa) by World Boxing, marking a significant milestone for Ghana’s boxing fraternity.
The appointment was announced during the inaugural African Boxing Congress, which took place on December 28, 2025, in a hybrid format at the Lamiridge Hotel Conference Hall in Lagos, Nigeria. The congress brought together representatives from 20 National Boxing Federations across the continent.

Ghana was represented at the congress by Fuseni, who had only a day earlier, on December 27, 2025, been elected President of the Ghana Boxing Federation.
In an exclusive interview, Fuseni said he is determined to leave a lasting legacy in his new role, pledging to unite the West African sub-region and promote structured competitions aimed at improving rankings and raising the overall standard of boxing.
“I will do my best to make a mark and leave a legacy. My focus is to unite the sub-region and approve competitions that will enhance rankings and improve the quality of boxers across West Africa,” he said.
He also expressed optimism about mobilising the needed technical support, partnerships, and resources to ensure the success of his mandate.
As President of African Zone 2, Fuseni will oversee the coordination, supervision, and development of boxing activities in 16 West African countries, with immediate effect. His letter of appointment was signed by the President of African Boxing, Solomon Desmond Kargbo.

The congress approved key agenda items, including the adoption of previous meeting minutes, the Strategic Plan, and Draft Statutes of African Boxing.
Elections conducted by acclamation resulted in the confirmation of Solomon Desmond Kargbo as President, with Omonlei Yakubu and Anta Gueye elected as Vice Presidents. Other board members include Alaeldin Alfatih, Dirang Thipe, Kpako Jules, Awil Gele, Fuseni Dauda, and Maria Obono.
Following the congress, the newly constituted board nominated Cyprien Tamo as Secretary General.
