A joint operation of the counterterrorism and the intelligence unit of Ghana police service and the Ghana revenue authority, GRA, have uncovered an illegal warehouse and company suspected to be involved in smuggling of Ghana cocoa fertilizer.
The cocoa fertilizers are being repackaged into foreign sacks at Amanfrom near in the Kpone Katamanso district of the greater Accra region, to aid the nefarious act.
15 trucks loaded with alleged smuggled cocoa fertilizer were impounded at the site.
The company believed to be behind the criminal act is identified as fertagro Ghana limited.
The managing director of the company who was arrested denied being involved in any illegal activity, including smuggling.
He claimed he operates under a license he obtained from the ministry of food and agriculture.
