The Bawku West district security council has strengthened surveillance on the Burkina Faso border to prevent infiltration of insurgents among the Burkinabe running to Ghana to seek asylum.
The asylum seekers have been trooping in droves through both approved and unapproved routes.
District Chief Executive and chairman of DISEC for Bawku West, Issaka Tahiru Ahmed says the priority is to ensure the safety of Ghanaians.
