The leadership of ARISE-Ghana says they are set to hold their planned demonstration on June 28 and 29, 2022 after fruitful negotiations with the police.
The purpose for the two-day demo is to protest against persistent and astronomical hikes in fuel prices by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government, which has imposed excruciating economic hardships on Ghanaians. The group again opposed to the imposition of the obnoxious E-Levy on the already-burdened Ghanaian people. The group seeking a full scale and bi-partisan parliamentary probe into COVID-19 expenditures. and to protest against the grabbing of State lands by officials of the government, particularly the de-classification of huge portions of the Achimota Forest Reserve.
The first day, 28th June, 2022 of the demonstration will begin at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange/ Obra Spot where they shall converge between the hours of 12 pm and 3 pm. It will start from the Nima Police Station street to the Arko-Agyei inter-change and end at the Frontage of the Jubilee House where they will picket until 10 pm.
On the second day, 29th of June 2022, demonstrators shall converge at the El-wak sports stadium at 12 pm and move on the Land Commission road to the Liberation road all the way to the Ministry of Finance, where a petition would be presented to the Minister for Finance. From the Ministry of Finance, they shall move to the frontage of the Parliament House of Ghana to present a petition to the Speaker.
