Airport Residential Robbery: Main Suspect Jailed 10 Years

The Ghana Police Service has secured a 10-year prison sentence for the main suspect in a robbery case involving a staff member of the Namibia High Commission in Accra.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the accused persons, Daniel Ashiabi, Emmanuel Abangbase, Theophilus Darko, and Benjamin Opoku, were put before the Dansoman Circuit Court following the incident at the Airport Residential Area.

Police say during proceedings on March 8, 2026, the suspects reappeared before the court on charges of robbery and dishonestly receiving.

The principal accused, Daniel Ashiabi, pleaded guilty to robbery and causing unlawful damage.

He was subsequently convicted and, on April 1, 2026, sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

The Police say the convict is currently in lawful custody and will be transferred to prison to serve his sentence.

The Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice and intensifying efforts to combat robbery and related crimes across the region.
