Justice Philip Bright Mensah has formally retired from the Supreme Court of Ghana, drawing the curtain on a distinguished judicial career marked by perseverance, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to justice.
After a brief but symbolic seven-month tenure on the nation’s apex court, Justice Mensah bowed out on Wednesday during a special valedictory judgment ceremony, where he delivered his final ruling from the Supreme Court bench.
Flanked by his brother and sister justices, an emotional Justice Mensah reflected on what he described as a difficult but fulfilling journey to the pinnacle of Ghana’s judiciary. He recounted the challenges, setbacks, and long years of service that eventually culminated in his appointment to the Supreme Court, a moment he said crowned a lifetime of hard work.
In his farewell remarks, Justice Mensah urged younger members of the legal profession and public servants to set their sights even higher, emphasising that perseverance, discipline, and integrity remain the true pathways to success.
He expressed gratitude to his colleagues on the bench for their support and camaraderie, noting that although his stay at the Supreme Court was short, it represented the ultimate honour of his judicial career.
