The Savannah Regional Security Council has deployed more security in the Damongo community ahead of the announcement of the final verdict of a three member inquiry committee setup by the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs on the Damongo chieftaincy matter on Thursday February 16.
Savannah Regional Minister and chairman of the regional security council, REGSEC, Saeed Muhazu Jebril warned the would be trouble makers that security personnel have been mandated to deal ruthlessly with any individual or group whose actions or inactions will jeopardize the peace in Damongo.
Since 2010, the Damongo community has been battling with some chieftaincy succession dispute.
Two feuding factions from the same gate, Abuasewura and the Budonwura have been fighting over who should be the rightful occupant of the Damongo skin.
The matter was referred to the Judicial committee of the then Northern Regional House of chiefs for a resolution.
Following the creation of the Savannah region in 2019 and the subsequent inauguration of the Savannah Regional House of chiefs, the matter was transferred to the Latter and a three member committee was constituted to make a determination into the matter.
The committee has since completed its work and are expected to announce their verdict on Thursday February 16.

He warned, that the security services will deal with any individual or group whose actions will affect the peace of Damongo.
‘we have given strict instruction to the security deployment. They are to deal with any trouble maker(s) ruthlessly with appropriate force. We need peace in Damongo and for that matter the Savannah region. W cannot allow chieftaincy to be the stambling block in the development of the the region’. He stressed.
