Surveyors Blame Leaders for Perennial Accra Floods (Video)

The licensed surveyors association of Ghana says flooding in Accra and other cities in the country could be addressed if managers of the country listen to their advise on development planning.

President of the association, engineer Samuel Larbi Darko, says there is adequate mapping information to guide development but are not being implemented.

Surveyor engineer Samuel Larbi Darko, made the revelation on the sideline of a technical committee meeting on the international federation of surveyors in Accra.

Contemporary challenges urged land use planners, surveyors and politicians to make difficult choices regarding the spatial distribution of activities and land uses in view of the sustainable development goals, SDGs.

The annual international federation of surveyors, fig’s, working week and conference to be hosted in accra in may 2024, is expected to discuss environment and land management issues.

The conference in partnership with the Ghana institution of engineers and the licensed surveyors association of Ghana.

The a long-term focus contributes to finding pathways for development that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of the future.

Optimizing land use from a spatial perspective contributes to several SDGs such as food security that is zero hunger, no poverty referring to control over land, gender equality, that is equal access to land and other resources, sustainable cities and communities, climate action and life on land.
