Banished: Unearthing Human Right Abuses in Northern Ghana

Banished unearths human rights abuses against women accused of witchcraft in the three regions of the north namely; Northern, Northeast, and Savannah regions.

Women mostly the aged, are subjected to systematic torture, humiliation, and sometimes killed over witchcraft accusations.

This documentary profiles two women who were banished from their community in the Northeast region.

While one is currently living at the Gambaga Alleged Witches Camp, the other has taken refuge in her nephew’s home.

Meanwhile, the members of the Zarantinga traditional council have not been held accountable for their acts.
