The conference of heads of basic schools, COHBS, in the agotime-ziope district collaboration with the local MP, has instituted teachers award scheme aims to recognize, evaluate, and inspire teachers.
The annual award is to show appreciation for their important contributions to the growth of the agotime-ziope district.
The award program, which is the first of its kind, aims to ensure that all children receive an inclusive and high-quality education in addition to encouraging teachers to give their all when imparting information to students.
The conference of heads in collaboration with the local MP, aims to recognize, evaluate, and inspire teachers, as well as to show appreciation for their important contributions to the growth of the Agotime-Ziope district.
Teachers sent to the area in question have been neglected in terms of motivation for far too long, which is a major factor in the establishment of such an award scheme.
Districts like Agotime-Ziope have been allowed to fend for themselves, with the exception of major national occasions like teacher awards that draw the attention of the government.
The idea to create the Annual District Teachers Award Scheme was made since this circumstance has continued to wear down teachers’ motivation.
The chairman of the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS), George Gbedema, urged the government to make sure that teachers’ licenser examinations are integrated into the final exams in order to give the teaching course meaning.
He also made an appeal to education stakeholders to financially support them in order to sustain the award scheme.
Tthe district director of education, David Kwaku Besah, pleaded with the assembly to guarantee that the government’s promised teachers’ allowance for underprivileged areas materializes.
The member of parliament for the Agotime-Ziope Constituency, Charles Agbeve, vowed to do everything in his power to ensure that the awards scheme is formalized and becomes an annual event for teachers.
Patience Abra Kpegah of Akuetteh D/A Basic Schools was adjudged the overall best teacher.
She received a double-deck refrigerator, a certificate, and an undisclosed sum of money for her price.
Morkporkpor Adrakor of Kpetoe Anglican Basic Schools won a 32-inch television, and a certificate as the first runner-up.
The second-placed, Gligui Rudolf Selase, received a 25-inch Flat colour Television set and a certificate reward as the scond runner up.
Deserving Head teachers in deprived area schools of the district were also awarded.
