the principal of the Bawku Technical Institute, in the upper east region Francis Achaw, asserts that all of the allegations made by the students during the rioting on Tuesday were false because the invigilators forbade them from bringing foreign materials into the exam room and from copying.
In the meantime, the pupils claim they regret what they did and have apologized to the school without reservation.
The Bawku Technical Institute is now tranquil as the final year students successfully wrote their examination paper on Wednesday, August 3.
As per customary, invigilators checked all pupils before allowing them to enter and made sure that the examination’s rules weren’t broken inside the exam room.
Additionally, police officers were stationed at strategic spots inside the school to maintain law and order.
However, students from other areas other than the Bawku areas say they are feeling the brunt of the school’s shutdown because they had nowhere to stay off campus while taking the examinations, a situation they felt might impact their performance.
The incident has been discussed by the school’s principal, Francis Achaw, who could not be reached on Tuesday.
He called the students’ conduct regrettable and said they made up the incident to attack the school administration since they forbade them from using exam cheating methods.
On Tuesday, August 2, rioting students attacked the Bawku municipal director of education, the divisional police commander, and the Bawku technical institute employees, forcing them to flee.
The severe invigilation of the final year exams was among other issues raised by the students as the cause of their rioting.
The incident led to the closure of the school temporarily.
However, the students claim on Wednesday, August 3, that they regretted their action and had apologized unequivocally.
They also begged for forgiveness from the school management asking that they be re-instated back to campus to enable them to complete the ongoing examination successfully.
The school library, a senior housemate’s bungalow, the dining hall, a notice board, a maize field, and other things were destroyed by the rampaging kids, according to an evaluation of the situation.
